International Print Center New York presents New Prints 2010/Summer—Heat! in its gallery at 508 West 26th Street, Room 5A, between 10th and 11th Avenues in Chelsea. On view from July 13 – August 13, the show consists of fifty-nine pieces by fifty-two emerging to established artists, selected from a pool of nearly 1,000 submissions.
The Selections Committee for New Print 2010/Summer—Heat! included Carol Blake, Collector;John Caperton, Curator at The Print Center in Philadelphia;Kathy Caraccio, Master Printer;Deborah Chaney, Printmaker;Marc Lepson, Artist and Professor at SUNY Purchase; and Barry Winiker, Corporate Collector at Pfizer Inc.
New Prints 2010/Summer – Heat! is the thirty-sixth presentation of IPCNY’s New Prints Program, a series of juried exhibitions organized by IPCNY four times each year, featuring prints
made within the past twelve months by artists at all stages of their careers. The exhibition represents a cross-section of some of the most exceptional printmaking today while continuing IPCNY’s commitment to provide an ongoing exhibition venue for contemporary prints and a major source of information about artists working in the medium.

Highlights of New Prints 2010/Summer – Heat! include: Justin Sanz's For a Few Dollars More, an oil-based monoprint of a colorful Clint Eastwood-like figure set in a monochromatic western landscape; Serena Perrone's skillful layering of woodcut, silverpoint, goldpoint, watercolor, pen and ink on Okawara paper, Through the Periscope; Michael Bisbee's self-published untitled prints, described as shotgun-blasted imprinted oil on paper; and James Siena's mesmerizing The Woods, an etching, aquatint and spitbite print.
In additionto the many independent artists included in this show, the presses, publishers and printshops represented are: Anchor Graphics at Columbia College Chicago; Cade Tompkins Editions; Center for Contemporary Printmaking; Double Vision; Electric Works San Francisco; Lawrence Lithography Workshop; Lower East Side Printshop; Manneken Press; Milestone Graphics; Plotzing Press; R D Finch Workshop; and Santo Press.
