NEW PRINTS 2006/SUMMER: COLOR

JUNE 29th - AUGUST 4th , 2006

From June 29th through August 4th, 2006, International Print Center New York will present New Prints 2006/Summer: COLOR, consisting of twenty-seven prints in which color plays a primary role in the concept or execution of the final image. With this exhibition, IPCNY continues its role as an ongoing exhibition venue for contemporary prints and a central source of information about artists working in the medium of printmaking.

Celebrating IPCNY's 5th Anniversary Season, New Prints 2006/Summer: COLOR is the twenty-first presentation of IPCNY's New Prints Program, a series of exhibitions highlighting exceptional contemporary prints made within the past year by artists at all stages of their careers.

The Selections Committee was composed of: Massimo Audiello, Director, Massimo Audiello Gallery; Greg Burnet, master printer; Christopher Gaillard, Vice President, Head of Contemporary Prints, Sotheby's; Janice Oresman, collector, art consultant and Chairman, IPCNY; Jessica Stockholder, artist; and Sarah Suzuki, Assistant Curator, Department of Prints and Illustrated Books, Museum of Modern Art. A curatorial essay by Ms. Suzuki will accompany the exhibition.

The complete artists' list is as follows: : Joe Amrhein, Karin Bos, Nina Bovasso, Ann Conner, Michael DalCerro, Kip Deeds, Edward del Rosario, Tomory Dodge, Stella Ebner, Wanda Ewing, Torben Giehler, Jean Gumpper, Don Ed Hardy, Richard Hutter, Mark Johnson, Shu-Min Kaldis, Amanda Knowles, Claire Lieberman, Benjamin Moreau, John Newman, Constance Old, Paula Praeger, Shino Soma, and Brian Spolans.

With rare exception, prints included in IPCNY's New Prints shows are for sale. IPCNY refers potential purchasers directly to the artist, publisher or gallery supplying the print. IPCNY requires no commission on sales.

International Print Center New York is a non-profit institution founded to promote the greater appreciation and understanding of the fine art print worldwide. Through innovative programming, it fosters a climate for the enjoyment, examination and serious study of artists' prints--from the old master to the contemporary. IPCNY offers its members a program of workshop and gallery visits, artists' talks and other special events, and has established an informational website and Information Desk available to the public at the gallery. IPCNY is almost totally dependent upon public and private donations to support its programs.

The New Prints Program is funded in part with public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs and the National Endowment for the Arts. IPCNY's programs are supported with grants from the Lily Auchincloss Foundation, the Deborah Loeb Brice Foundation, the Carnegie Corporation of New York, The Horace W. Goldsmith Foundation, the Hess Foundation and the Robert Lehman Foundation.

Following its presentation at IPCNY, New Prints 2006/Summer will travel to the Maier Museum of Art, Randolph-Macon Woman's College, Lynchburg, VA.
