Artist’s Statement:

Focusing on this potential for multiple/ duplicitous readings of history.  “War on the Brain” investigates both the biases and the blind-spots that influence the evolution of one’s “world-view.”  Using images from art history and that media, as well as “universal” symbols, cultural icons, and random noise, the work plays at the intersection between what is actually in the image and what the viewer is predisposed to see.  The projects is a meditation on the conflicts that arise when what is “seen” is challenged by contradiction, paradox or an opposing view.
