Crown Point Press Archive at the Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco The FAMSF acquired the Crown Point Press archive in 1991, a collection of one impression of every print the press has produced – this now amounts to almost 1700 pieces. The acquisition also included more than 2000 working proofs and preparatory sketches. Artists include William Bruce, Christopher Brown, John Cage, Chuck Close, Richard Diebenkorn, Al Held, Bryan Hunt, Stoichi Ida, Alex Katz, Robert Kushner, Sol LeWitt, Claes Oldenburg, Judy Pfaff, Sean Scully, Pat Steir, Wayne Thiebaud, William T. Wiley.
Gemini G.E.L.Founded in 1966, Gemini G.E.L. is an artists’ workshop and publisher of limited edition prints and sculptures. Located at 8365 Melrose Avenue, Los Angeles, California 90069, (323) 651-0513 Archive located at the National Gallery of Art, Washington D.C. Find the complete online Gemini Catalogue Raisonné at http://www.nga.gov/gemini In 1981, the National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C., established the Gemini G.E.L. Archive, which functions as a study center for scholars and collectors, and contains a complete history of the workshop. Included is one example from each of the over 2,000 editions published. Three major exhibitions with works from the archive have been organized and exhibited by the National Gallery in the past 21 years. The archive provides documentary information for each work consisting of; artist name, series, title, start date, signature date, publication date, notes on dates, Gemini work number, old Gemini catalogue number, NGA accession number, colors or sequence, dimensions, weight, support, edition, fabrication notes, collaboration and supervision, experimentation and development, processing and proofing, edition printing, edition production, and remarks. LandFall Press Archives located at Milwaukee Art Museum The archive, physically transferred from Landfall Press to the Milwaukee Art Museum in April 1992, includes more than six hundred prints Landfall has published since its inception in 1970, as well as supplementary materials. Among the nearly 5,000 pieces in the archive are editioned prints; working, trial, progressive, and cancellation proofs; etching plates, woodblocks, and lithographic stones; mylar sheets, photographic negatives, and color separations; stencils; working studies; and collages and drawings. Among those who have collaborated with Lemon on limited-edition prints, artist's books, and multiples are Vito Acconci, Lynda Benglis, Christo, Chuck Close, Lesley Dill, Jim Dine, Nancy Graves, Sol LeWitt, Claes Oldenburg, Philip Pearlstein, Pat Steir, Jack Tworkov, Kara Walker, and William T. Wiley. Also represented among Landfall’s print archives are Chicago Imagists Roger Brown, Ed Paschke, Barbara Rossi, and Karl Wirsum, as well as regional artists such as T. L. Solien (Wisconsin), Keith Jacobshagen (Nebraska), and Tom Uttech (Wisconsin).
Lower East Side Printshop The Printshop houses an archive collection of thousands of print works created in its studio over the past 38 years.
Peter Blum Edition Archive located at The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, owns all completed portfolios, single prints, and books produced by the Peter Blum Edition from the time it was founded in 1980 through June 1994, and houses all existing preparatory drawings, maquettes, working and trial proofs, and printing blocks or plates, as well as unique and unpublished works. The total number of pieces in the archives is over 1,000. Tandem Press Archive located at Chazen Museum of Art Administratively linked to the University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Art, Tandem Press was founded in 1987 by William Weege, artist and professor of printmaking. Since its inception, the press has produced over 250 editions. The Chazen Museum of Art serves as the official archive for the press and receives one impression of every editioned print. The museum also makes concerted efforts to acquire one or more of the monoprints or monotypes that are produced on occasion. Included among the artists who have been in residence at Tandem Press are Art Spiegelman, David Lynch, Gronk, Suzanne Caporael, Judy Pfaff, Robert Stackhouse, Miriam Shapiro, Janet Fish, Robert Cottingham, Jaune Quick-To-See Smith, Richard Bosman, Sam Gilliam, Sam Richardson, Joseph Goldyne, and Karen Kunc.
Tyler Graphics The Kenneth Tyler Archive Collection consists of over 7,000 editioned prints, screens, paperworks, illustrated books and multiples, along with rare or unique proofs and drawings held at the National Gallery of Australia. It also includes documentation of approximately 60 hours of film and sound as well as some 60,000 photographs.
