Benjamin Edwards was born in Iowa City, IA and earned his B.A. from the University of California at Los Angeles. He attended the Graduate Painting Program at San Francisco Art Institute, CA and received his M.F.A. from the Rhode Island School of Design. Currently, Edwards lives and works in Washington, D.C.

In 2004 and 2001, Edwards held solo shows entitled Automatic City and Convergence at Artemis - Greenberg Van Doren - Gallery in New York City. In addition, he has participated in more than 35 group exhibitions across the world including locations such as Denmark, Germany, Austria, and the Czech Republic.

Edwards' work has been featured in publications including The New York Times, New York Magazine, The Village Voice, The New Yorker, Time Out New York, PAJ, and Tema Celeste. He is also the recipient of an "Award of Excellence" from Rhode Island School of Design, the Lillian Levinson Fellowship from the University of California at Los Angeles and a Graduate Merit Fellowship from San Francisco Art Institute.

Edwards' work is also represented in public and corporate collections which include The Museum of Modern Art, New York, NY; The New York Public Library, New York, NY; and Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh, PA, among others.
