Moses Ros-Suarez

Biography:
Moses Ros-Suárez has extensive experience as a printmaker, working in a range of techniques, from etching and woodcut to silk screen printing. He is best known for intense paintings and sculptures that transform common subjects into expressionistically rich images. He explores themes that resonate on both personal and universal levels--preserving the beauty and abundance of our natural world, discovering our individual and national identities, and
overcoming such threats to our well-being as the global economic crisis.
Ros-Suárez has had one-person exhibitions at museums in the United States and the Caribbean, including the Yeshiva University Museum, New York; the Paterson Museum, New Jersey; and el Instituto de Cultura y Arte; Santiago, Republica Dominicana. Ros-Suárez has also had one-person exhibitions at such galleries as the Mary Anthony Art Galleries, New York, and the Solar Art Gallery, East Hampton. He has been awarded commissions for public sculpture by the New York Department of Cultural Affairs, the Bronx Council for the Arts, and the New York City Housing Authority, as well as for stained-glass windows by the Metropolitan Transit Authority of New York.
Ros-Suárez, artistic output consists of sculpture, painting, murals, prints, and video. He began making prints at Bronx Printmakers. He continued his printmaking at the Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop, the Lower East Side Print Shop, and Manhattan Graphic Center, all in New York. He has received instruction at the School of Visual Arts. Ros-Suárez received his Bachelor of Architecture from Pratt Institute and is a licensed
architect in the State of New York.
