Artist's Statement

I was always fascinated by human beings - how they move, how their moods change in the endless continuum. Because of similar dynamics I enjoy etching on the softground and aquatint.

Biography

Sigita Rucinskaite-Pranevicius was born in Vilnius, Lithuania, where she spent most of her youth. She studied at the Children's Art School for four years. In 1993 she received a degree in pharmacy from the Kaunas Medical Academy. While working as a pharmacist she illustrated three Lithuanian children's books using pen and ink. Rucinskaite-Pranevicius moved to the United States in 1998 where she studied illustration and printmaking at the School of Visual Arts in New York.
