MACDOWELL COLONY fellowship

Deadline: April 15, 2019

The MacDowell Colony provides time, space, and an inspiring environment to artists of exceptional talent. A MacDowell Fellowship consists of exclusive use of a studio, accommodations, and three prepared meals a day for two weeks to two months. The MacDowell Colony believes that all talented artists should have the opportunity a MacDowell Fellowship provides.

There is no cost for a Fellowship; however, artists are responsible for materials and travel expenses. In order to open the residency experience to a wider, more diverse community of artists, MacDowell offers two financial assistance programs to those who have been awarded a Fellowship. Through the generosity of several foundations and individuals need-based stipends are available to artists who would not otherwise be able to afford the time away that a Fellowship requires. Additionally, travel reimbursement grants are available to defray the cost of domestic and international travel to and from New Hampshire.

MacDowell encourages applications from artists representing the widest possible range of perspectives and demographics. The sole criterion for acceptance is artistic excellence. MacDowell has ten artist studios, one of which is a printmaking studio. The printmaking studio includes an etching press and a lithography press, and allows for multiple forms of printmaking.

The application deadline for the fall 2019 residency period is April 15, 2019.
