Deadline: July 31, 2019
This award was created in 2013 under the aegis of the Academy of Fine Arts in tribute to the engraver Mario Avati, thanks to the donation of Helen and Mario Avati, sponsored by CAFAmerica. Internationally, the prize is designed to encourage artists who, through the quality of their work, contribute to the progress of the art of engraving, to which Mario Avati has dedicated his life.
In accordance with the wishes of the donors Helen and Mario Avati, the prize rewards a confirmed artist, of any nationality, for their engraved work, which uses the techniques of printmaking (intaglio, woodcut, lithography, silkscreen and monotype).
The annual prize, worth US $40,000, is awarded under the dome of the Institut de France during the Solemn Session of the Académie des Beaux-Arts.
