Gowanus Studio Space

The Gowanus Studio Space is a cooperative workspace dedicated to helping artists and designers create the projects they envision. Open 24/7, the space includes a woodworking shop with equipment capable of producing projects from large-scale installations to finely crafted furniture, a metal shop, and a well-ventilated print shop equipped for intaglio, relief, screenprint, and letterpress. The versatility of having three contiguous shops in a single industrial art workshop makes the space especially well-suited to those working in more than one medium, and inspires members to cross boundaries and explore new ways of making their art. Providing training, work and exhibition space, as well as tools and resources, Gowanus Studio Space encourages cross-pollination between the art/design communities. Artists may rent a private studio or work in an open shared area, contributing to an unusually strong sense of community.

Applications for new members are reviewed once a month. Open-houses are scheduled multiple times during the year, with the possibility of tours for prospective members to introduce Gowanus Studio Space to artists, designers, and craftspeople who need affordable space and facilities to bring their work to life.
